Director of College Development and Engagement

An exciting opportunity exists for a respected, passionate, and experienced communications leader to join our dedicated and supportive team at Immanuel Lutheran College, located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Immanuel Lutheran College (ILC) is one of the leading independent schools in the Sunshine Coast region, with campuses and outdoor education programs at Buderim and Mt Binga.  With a proud reputation as one of the most innovative schools on the Sunshine Coast, ILC has enrolments exceeding 1100 based at the Buderim campus, situated among 23 picturesque hectares.  ILC is renowned for its contemporary learning spaces, state-of-the-art immersive Environmental Centre, progressive teaching methods and nurturing class groups.

In a newly established role, the Director of College Development and Engagement is responsible for establishing and implementing annual and long-range marketing and development strategies for the College that are consistent with the strategic plan and the school’s enrolment goals.  The Director will lead the Marketing and Enrolment and Client Facing teams and is responsible for communicating the College’s story and values whilst ensuring consistent messaging in the creation of marketing collateral across a variety of platforms, including internal and external communications.

To be successful, the Director of College Development and Engagement will possess a proven track record in the effective management of stakeholder relations, alumni, sales, communications and media engagement.  In addition, the following skills and experience are required:

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability in media, networking, advocacy, stakeholder management and the ability to influence mutually beneficial outcomes;
  • Passion, vision, and an eye for detail with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to promote a positive culture, mentor and coach staff and build highly effective teams;
  • Highly developed written and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks, meet deadlines and lead teams under pressure.

A competitive salary is offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.

  • Current ASCTA (Australian Swimming and Coaches Teaching Association) Swim Australia Teacher and Teacher of Babies and Toddlers qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a Learn to Swim School
  • Possess current First Aid Certificate and CPR certification
  • Current Blue Card for working with children
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence
  • A high level of personal motivation and energy

This position requires a willingness to work a flexible spread of hours in accordance with the operational demands of the Swim School.  Hours and days of work to be negotiated.

Outdoor Education Instructor  

Permanent Full-Time Appointment

Commencing March 2023

  • Guide discovery and growth in young people while working in the stunning Southern Queensland landscape
  • All meals, accommodation, equipment, uniform and first aid kit provided
  • Operate from one base camp located in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs, Southern Queensland

An exciting and rewarding permanent full-time Outdoor Education Instructor opportunity exists for interested applicants who are either new to the outdoor education industry or experienced adventure professionals motivated by the opportunity to provide children from ages 10 – 16 with a life-changing experience.

 

Residentially based at Mt Binga Outdoor Education Centre, owned and operated by Immanuel Lutheran College, the role is responsible for leading students through residential programs for groups in Years 5 - 10.  The programs include high ropes / vertical rescue, navigation / expedition, horse riding and trail riding, mountain biking, archery, along with many other activities.

The main goal of the outdoor education program is that students experience community living and grow in their own self-sufficiency and confidence in who they are with the support and guidance of the Outdoor Education Instructors.

A combination of the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience or interest in working with youth in a pastoral care or equivalent Outdoor Education role
  • Cert IV in Outdoor Recreation
  • Experience with a number of the following: high ropes, vertical rescue, navigation, expedition, horse riding and trail riding, mountain biking, archery, small and large group leadership and facilitation, pastoral care and 4-WD experience
  • Ability to recognise potential risks and emergency situations in outdoor activities and a rural setting, and coordinate responses where required
  • Senior First Aid certificate (Wilderness/Remote Area First Aid qualification will be considered favourably)
  • Values aligned with the Christian ethos of the Centre
