Director of Business Operations

An outstanding opportunity exists for a respected, passionate, and experienced leader to work with the Principal, Executive Team and College Council in providing visionary leadership for the next exciting stage at Immanuel Lutheran College.

To be successful, the Director of Business Operations will be innovative, self-motivated and solutions focused, with extensive experience in managing and leading a team.  They will also:

  • Possess a high level of knowledge of accounting, finance and business acumen
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management
  • Experience using financial applications to support efficient decision making
  • Experience in asset management procedures and processes
  • Understanding and application of facilities management
  • Expert understanding of legislation, policies, and guidelines for school governance
  • Experience with Work, Health & Safety requirements and legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in management and supervision of a multi-disciplined team such as administrative staff, facilities teams, suppliers, and contractors
  • Possess a high degree of initiative and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Deputy Head of Mt Binga

Full-Time position

Commencing January 2023

Applications are invited for the above role at Mt Binga Outdoor Education Centre.

Key requirements:

  • Applicants must be able to live and work within the Christian ethos of the College
  • Background in working with youth in a pastoral care/counselling role with extensive group facilitation and debriefing experience and exceptional communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and effect change within an organisation
  • Demonstrated effective skills in administration, interpersonal relations, planning and programming
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate (Wilderness/Remote Area First Aid qualification preferred)
  • Cert IV Diploma or Degree in Outdoor Education/Recreation
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment or similar experience (desirable)
  • An understanding of Restorative Practice and its effectiveness in an outdoor education environment, with a visionary approach to working with young people

About Working at Mt Binga:

The Centre is a former logging camp and has been an Outdoor Education Centre since 1982.

Mt Binga is a small community of staff that live on-site in modern accommodation. The closest country town is Blackbutt (24kms), with the closest city being Toowoomba (76km). You can expect to live a farm lifestyle, with some modern conveniences.

Outdoor Education Instructors

Applications are invited for the above positions.  A combination of the following skills are preferred:

  • Live and work within the Christian ethos of the Centre
  • Background in working with youth in a pastoral care or equivalent Outdoor Education role
  • Cert IV in Outdoor Recreation
  • Experience with a number of the following: high ropes, vertical rescue, navigation, expedition, horse riding and trail riding, archery, small and large group leadership and facilitation, pastoral care and 4-WD experience
  • Ability to recognise potential risks and emergency situations in outdoor activities and a rural setting, and coordinate responses where required
  • Senior First Aid certificate (Wilderness/Remote Area First Aid qualification will be considered favourably)
  • Ability to lead groups of students in food preparation and food hygiene

Outside School Hours Care – Educational Leader

Applications are invited to apply for the above casual position with Immanuel Lutheran College – Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), for work during term time and throughout school holidays, as required.

The OSHC Educational Leader will:

  • Manage the play-based education program that meets the requirements of the learning framework
  • Use the planning cycle to effectively evaluate children’s learning and development
  • Work with a small team to implement and evaluate a stimulating and diverse program that includes children with developmental and additional needs
  • Develop and maintain positive partnerships with families, community, children and colleagues
  • Assist with the daily administration and operation of the Service.
  • Use initiative in the implementation of programs and engagement with children
