New Primary School Students


The start of the school year is busy and occasionally stressful for families. We believe the way in which we as a Primary School ensure our students have the resources and stationery they require to engage in learning should be as easy and smooth as possible. From 2019, our student stationery requirements will be managed by the College with parents no longer required to place a stationery order online with our supplier. This will ensure:

  • All students start the year with everything they need
  • All students have the same quality of stationery and books
  • Capped pricing – no difference in cost from year level to year level
  • Ease for parents
  • No waste with over ordering
  • The environmental impact of individual student boxes removed. Next year all stationery will be supplied by the College and is included as part of the Resource and Technology Levy on your fee statement. Please feel free to contact Mrs Jodie Hayat E:, if you have any questions.

iPad Devices (Years 3 to 6)- Out of the Box Evening:

New Primary School students entering Years 3 to 6 will be issued an iPad on 6 February 2019. New parents and the student/s can choose to come to either of these sessions:

3.30pm           Lecture Theatre

5.30pm           Lecture Theatre

Further information will be sent to families before school commences.

OPEN CLASSROOMS: Primary School classrooms will be open on Friday, 25 January 2019, between 8.30am to 10.00am. Primary School students can come and meet with their teacher. 

UNIFORM TIMETABLE: All families will receive an email during the holidays from the Primary School Office with information about the Uniform Timetable.

The Primary School Uniform Timetable advises on which days to wear which uniform.

At the start of each term, this information is updated and available via the SEQTA Engage Portal on our website and the College Shop webpage.

Please note that SEQTA Engage will not be available until your child has commenced their studies at Immanuel and your login details will be emailed to you in the first week of school.


Parking in the first couple of weeks of a new school year can be busy. To keep the traffic flowing smoothly, we will have staff guiding traffic in the first two weeks of the first term.

Primary School parents are encouraged to park near the Worship Centre or down by the swimming pool/College Shop. Rim Road is also another option for parking and drop off.

The Immanuel Early Learning Centre Car Park (out the front of the Main Administration Building) is strictly off limits for College families to park or drop off  children unless they have a child attending the IELC.

We know that it can be stressful for parents trying to find a park and then walking their child to class and then to turn around and have to rush off to work/other commitments. To make your life easier, we have our Car Park Super Heroes (I believe capes and masks are part of the ensemble) to meet you at the drop and go zones and walk your child to class. This is a wonderful service and creates a positive synergy between our senior students and primary.

PREP STUDENTS START DATE: Prep students will have a staggered start and information regarding the timetable for the first week will be sent to you by the Primary School Office over the holiday break. 

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: The 2019 academic year commences on Tuesday 29 January 2019 (except Prep students, who will be notified in writing regarding their staggered start dates). Students should aim to be at the College by 8:15 am for an 8:30 am start. On the first day of school, all new students are to go directly to their classrooms where they will meet with their teacher and be introduced to their buddies. If you are not sure where your child’s class is located then one of our staff in the Primary School Office will be happy to assist. 

2018 ACADEMIC AND NAPLAN REPORTS: For those who haven’t done so as yet, please forward copies of your child’s Semester 2, 2018 reports and 2018 NAPLAN results (if applicable) to the Primary School Office to be added to your child’s student records.

PRIMARY SCHOOL TUCKSHOP: All recess and lunch orders must be lodged online (refer to information regarding FlexiSchools), and orders must be placed before 9:00 am. Primary School Tuckshop operates on the following days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Menus are available via the College website.


Grandparent’s Day is on 28 August 2019. To ensure that your child’s grandparents receive an invitation, please register their details via the Grandparent’s Day link on the New Families webpage.


In 2019 our Prep students will be given ten free lessons in our Learn to Swim Program. It is anticipated that the lessons will take place after school and further information regarding how to apply and timetables will be communicated in January.


Under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (Qld) parents have a legal obligation to ensure that their children attend school and if your child is likely to be absent from school for more than 10 consecutive school days (e.g. holiday, illness), prior approval must be obtained from the Principal. An Application for Exemption form can be obtained either from Student Services or the Enrolments Registrar.


If your child is in the Primary School and needs to leave early, you must meet them personally at Student Services to sign them out.
