Sunshine Coast art lovers will get a sneak peek of what’s on offer at this year’s Immanuel Arts Festival by purchasing a ticket to the Gala Opening. Tickets have just gone on sale and a large crowd of discerning art lovers is expected.

The Festival will be held from 25 to 28 May and will display works of art from students, emerging and established artists who are looking to increase their public profile. Painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, wearable art and more will be on display and available for purchase.

A longstanding event on the Sunshine Coast’s cultural calendar, this year’s feature artists are painters and sculptors Lyndon (Lyn) and Jill Braiden, and painter Teresa Mundt.

“Last year, the Festival attracted more than 240 artists and nearly $24,000 worth of artwork was sold,” said Convenor Melissa Evans.

“Tickets to the Gala Opening are $35 and include wine, canapes and a stunning wearable art parade. Guests will also be among the first to view the collection and if they wish, purchase a special something to take home,” she said.

All artwork exhibited is on sale for the duration of the Festival. With nearly $5,000 in cash and prizes, major awards include Outstanding Work of Festival with $1,000 in prize money and the increasingly popular People’s Choice Award, with $500 prize money.

The 2017 Immanuel Arts Festival is proudly presented by the Immanuel Lutheran College Parents and Friends Community, and is sponsored by Mix FM, My Weekly Preview, Sunshine Cove Maroochydore, The Inkspot Printers, To Hold & To Have, Medicine on Second and Immanuel Lutheran College.
