We're so proud of Year 7 student Milla D. and Year 9 student Zak K., both winners in their respective categories of the Telling Stories Writing Competition.

At a ceremony at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), Zak went on to win the overall competition and was awarded the Professor Gary Crew Trophy, a fantastic result. Professor Crew presented the trophy and Zak’s story was read in front of the audience displaying vivid imagery.

Telling Stories is a writing competition presented by Mooloolaba Rotary, USC Creative Industries and Voices on the Coast Literature Festival. The competition had nearly 180 entries from students in Year 4 to Year 9 from more than 40 schools. Voices, a festival organised by Immanuel Librarian Kelly Dunham, and hosted by USC, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020.

We congratulate both of our emerging authors and look forward to reading their published works in the future.
